unsure of pregnancy

My yorkie is very bloated and is drinking huge amounts of water which is quickly passed again as urine.
There is a possibility she may be pregnant in which case she would be nearly due her pups
the problem is she has had a false pregnancy before and her abdomen is so swollen it is impossible to feel any puppies.
She is now at the stage where she can hardly walk and is constantly moaning.
There is a sticky dark discharge.
IF she is not pregnant can you suggest what it might be.
Should we be concerned and take her to the vet immediately.

It is almost certain that your yorkie has a condition know as a pyometra. This is an accumulation of discharge within the uterus. It is potentially very serious as it causes general toxin accumulation within the body which is why she is drinking more to try and flush these toxins away. You should take her to a vet as soon as possible. She will almost certainly need to have her uterus and ovaries removed. sometimes this condition can occur at the same time as diabetes so it is worthy checking this out prior to any anaesthetic. This condition can take a turn for the worse at any time resulting in an extremely sick dog very rapidly so again I emphasise vet now.
I am not able to monitor this site all the time and this question which involves a potentially life threatening condition would have had instant advice on 1 call advice direct vet phone line.
