bitch season

My yorkie bitch was due to come into season at christmas and still hasn't. She hasn't been anywhere she shouldn't so can't be pregnant, is this normal or could she be having a phantom pregnancy? Any thoughts?

Phantom pregnancies normally occur 4-6 weeks after the bitch has been in season so although it is possible she is having one it is unlikely. It is adviseable to watch and monitor her water intake, appetite, weight and girth and also any swelling of the mammary glands. If she appears quite normal in behaviour etc. I would sit back and wait for her to come in season. Bitches vary in their regularity of cycle just like the human but if she is normally regular then observe her a little more carefully.
