she has been lethargic, not wanting to go outside and not eating for almost a week - was in heat over 2 1/2 weeks ago

first prognosis was infection in uterus (following heat) as not spayed -had high temperature and tender stomach - given antibiotics for a week (phzer - synulox) from Thur 28th June

Not getting any better by Sat 30th so asked for second opinion at LSPCA. They did full blood count and took temperature - temp high 39.5 after 1/2 paracetomol 2 hr before and white blood count very low; x-ray showed masses in both stomach and chest area, and biopsy of stomach area showed blood in stomach - vet thought a spleen problem or tumour and did not think much could be done, but did not fully rule out pyometra (although said blood tests showed no sign of infection). Gave 2 injections - one a steroid

Much more perky today (Sun 1st) but drinking a lot of water (starting to eat much better, more interest in being up and about and running around garden). Will be 4th day of antibiotics.

Given blood from biopsy from 2 areas of stomach is there something more I should be doing, rather than waiting to see how she does over next few days?

spleen tumours can often be removed but it does sound as though there other problems and your best bet is to contact the vets involved i the treatment. Chances are will be ok as long as keeping fluid down

my staffy had an infection that my vet failed to find he said it was a cystic spleen this was the friday of the juiblee bank hols he told me to take her back on the wednesday for an op to remove her spleen an hr into that op he called me to say her womb was infected & needed to be removed NOW i told him to go ahead half hr later she died on the operating table i cant help but think if the vet had picked up that infection & treated it earlier i would still have my baby. push the vets to find out whats wrong. hope it works out for you.
