My female dog got hooked with my male dog and we think she is pregnan, but this is her first heat... Will she be ok?

We are pretty sure our ten month old chiweenie got pregnant... This is her first heat and we were wondering if she would be ok.... What are the risks? We are very worried for her.... Will her being pregnant effect her? I hope she will be ok. Thanks!

I cant answer your question but was intrigued by the breed "Chiweenie" as I had never heard of it and couldnt even make a stab at what kind of mixture it could be.
To help Stuart out if he sees this, then its apparently a cross between a
Chihuahua and a Daschund !

omg what next where on earth does the weenie come from. Its mongrel!
Depends to some extent as to what the male dog is. if bigger or chunkier then the risks are greater.. but at 10 months not greatly increased.

All I can think of Stuart is that the Daschund was sometimes called a wiener dog or a sausage dog.

Yes Stuart it gets VERY VERY worse.. People are charging enormous amounts of money for these "designer" crosses, and then trying to breed any of them smaller and smaller to make them "teacup" size and very frail.

I have seen two that couldn't get their tongues into their mouths because they were too big for the skull.. The dogs permanently had their tongue half an inch outside the mouth and between the teeth. (not related dogs) and another who was blind because the eyes had been too big for the skeletal frame and had had them removed.

Not only that and I do hope this isn't the case with the poster.. but not many get genetic screening before mating when they cross (F1). There are not too many problems, however, if they then start to back cross F1b.. (half) or F.2 (full)... ie .. chiweenie to chiweenie.. then genetics are throwing back all the faults of both breeds in abundance.

Genetics is a study in itself and people are breeding without the knowledge of it...

Please get this little dog spayed after she has given birth. There really are enough unwanted dogs in this world.

The statistics for the US are 20,000 put to sleep EVERY day.. and even large rehoming centres in the UK can't avoid it.. One well known one is up to 42% of its dogs pts... That will surprise some !!!
