help! please.(leg wound)I have a 12yr old border collie who has bite a 2inch hole in his own leg. Have been to the vet but they just keep giving antibiotics.Concerned that they have`nt stitched it.He is also on valium to keep him calm.Worried that it is going to be a on going treatment that we can not afford. 11/11/05 Answer this question |

The danger of stitching bite wounds is that any infection is sealed in turning an pen wound into an abscess. You can aid in keping the wound clean by spraying the wound with saline (1 tablespoonful of salt in a pint of boiled water in a household plant sprayer. An elizabethan collar will stop him licking it. Then it is down to time and patience. Please let us know how it goes on. Good Luck 12/11/05 |
