Lamb produced following suspected abortion

Stuart - not sure if you've seen my latest posting under "Abortion in Sheep" - so am posting new question... Is it possible for a ewe to be carrying twins, abort one and then go on to produce one live healthy one at full term?

Yes on both counts. I though I had answered in the original question as I am notified of all postings. If I have not then it is a reflection of my more ability on the computer rather than a lack of intent.
This does tend to suggest some degree of placental insufficiency rather than an infectious cause which would usually result in the abortion of all the lambs.

This is potentially good news then - may mean that I don't have some nasty organisms lurking around ready to infect all my sheep... Is placental insufficiency a "one-off" condition or is this sheep always at risk of losing her lambs?

There may well be some chronic scarring of the uterus which could interfere with future pregnancies. All you can do is wait and see. If she is a first crop gimmer it may just have been a reflection of imaturity.

She is a first crop gimmer - I'll just have to see what happens next year. At least this year it turned out to be a happy ending for her....
Thanks for the advice.
