My horse casted in his stall! i never thought he ever would!

We think my horse casted in his stall last night, we rinsed it off and added sav to it. we also gave him oral bute. he has a very hard time walking on the leg. he is my show horse and i cant stand to see him drag his leg behind him, it breaks my heart. Should i have a vet come and check him out? and is there anything i can do currently to help him? he is a 8 year old registered paint.

if he is dragging a leg then yes immediately and savlon may kill some of the bugs around the wound it will certainly kill a lot of cells that w are doing their best to repair the damage as well. Use very dilute povidone iodine 4 drops to a pint or if a wound is grossly contaminated then use neat scrub well and then rinse thoroughly with a saline solution (1 level Tablespoonful salt to a pint of boiled water) thereafter use the saline only.

if he is still uncomfortable on the leg then yes.
What's his tetanus vaccination status?

All bute will do is act like an asprin if you had an injury that was making you lame for week would you take an asprin or make an appointment with a t doctor
