Help needed with corn snake! plz! READ ON!LOOK>> PLZ HELP>> My corn snake is 5yrs old, an orange/red colour with white and black underneath. He seems Healthy and has all the required equipment needed i.e large cage, temp gage, bedding, hidding places etc... however just recently since feb 06 he has been *'fitting'* as such having full body *muscle spasms* which last around 30sec-1min some quite strong others fairly weak. I have not heard of this before and am worried for my snakes health. He still eats- large 'pinkies'(dead mice), drinks, is active and shed his skin the other day and also all bowel fuctions are normal. But i just dont understand why he is fitting and would be extremly greatful if any1 out there could help with advice or suggested treatment. I confess that my knowledge of snakes is limited but I would be considering mineral/vitamin deficiencies or some toxic problem here. Snakes are also susceptible to septicaemia especially around the time they are shedding so I have no doubt that this snake should be examined by a vet with an specific interest in snakes. Try looking on the pet plenet site ask your local vet and reptile supplier who they recomend and try to get him seen tomorrow. I hope someone who knows more than I do about snakes will see this and respond with more specific advice. It doesn't have to be a vet anyone who has experience of a similar problem may reply to your question. Good Luck 3/3/06 |
