hamster worriesmy hamster has recently looked very large around his abdomen area, maybe it's a growth? he is also drinking a lot of water throughout the day. he is about 2 years old so maybe it's just him ageing. any tips on what might be wrong with him are welcome! 19/3/06 Answer this question |

The average life expectancy of a hamster is about 2 years and there is little doubt that much of what you describe will be associated with ageing. It is likely that the increased abdomenal size will be associated with fluid accumulation due to kidney ageing poor circulation or an abdomenal tumour or a combination of all 3. It may be worth discussing it with your local vet on Monday morning. Meantime tereat him as you would normally and do not restrict his water intake. 19/3/06 |
