Rabbit colds

Can rabbits get colds? My rabbit seems to be exhibiting cold like symptoms without the runny nose or eyes. Any ideas? I am planning to the vets tomorrow if need be.

Rabbits do suffer from colds just like most animals. Despite being traditionally housed in outdoor hutches. A good hutch will mimick the conditions of the natural burrow. It is important that they have a dry draught free area to nest in and a dry well ventilated area for play and vital bodily functions. They are susceptible to viral bacterial and fungal infections and chemical irritation of the lungs. Usually early signs of respiratory problems in the rabbit are sore or runny eyes and nose. Despite the abscence of these signs in your rabbit I advise that any sneezing reduced activity or appetite is worth discussing with your vet at an early stage.
