Action depends on site and depth of wound. If any danger of penetration of a body cavity or joint then antibiotics are essential as early as possible. It is a lot easier to prevent infection than to cure it. If superficial and not near a joint then bathe with saline solution (1 level tablespoonful salt to 1 pint of water reduce salt to 1 teaspoonful if near eye and discuss with vet at earliest convenient time.Check vaccination status and arrange booster vaccination if more than a year since last one. Vaccinate cat against leukaemia asap if not already done.
